On Friday 18th March, pupils and teachers from Dalbeattie High set off on a trip to the Outward Bound Centre in Ullswater for the weekend. The weekend was dedicated to helping pupils build confidence, expand on their teamwork skills and their cooperation and proved very successful. The staff, at the centre, were very welcoming and friendly and it was a great experience which we would definitely embark on again.
Scottish Schools Gymnastics Finals
On Sunday the 20th of March a team of S1 students (Tia Wight, Natalie Miller, Anna Pedley and Saffron Kirkman) participated in the finals of the gymnastics vault and floor championships in Perth.
The team came in 4th which is quite an achievement because given the number of schools participating. Well done to the team for representing Dalbeattie High School so well at a national level.
Da Vinci Regional Decathlon Champions 2016
The 'Da Beattie Demons' are proud to be crowned Dumfries and Galloway Champions at the Regional Challenge Event last week. This now means that the group will be represent Dumfries and Galloway (and Scotland) at the International Decathlon Event to be held in Florence, Italy in October 2017.
Well done to the team we are very proud of you all!

The S3 Dr. Turners regional hockey championships took place on Wednesday 29th March. Seven teams competed in the girls round robin competition with Dalbeattie winning five of their games and drawing one. The final game of the tournament saw unbeaten Dalbeattie play unbeaten Annan with Annan ahead on points because of Dalbeattie’s draw. This final game was hard fought with both teams creating chances. However Dalbeattie came away 1 - 0 winners. In the boys competition, after some very close games, Wallace Hall won with Dalbeattie coming runners up.

Education Maintenance Allowance
Education Maintenance Allowance is a means tested weekly allowance (household incomes<£26,884 for families with more than one dependant child, <24,421 for families with one child. Students between 16-19 are eligible. It is payable in term time only and is paid in two weekly instalments in arrears based on 100% attendance at school. In order to receive EMA the student must have a acceptable Learning Agreement. If you have received EMA last year you will not automatically receive it this year. You must reapply.
