Skating success for Dalbeattie student

Lauren McClure and 15 of her team mates competed in the British Synchronised Skating Championships 2016 (15-17th January) in the Junior B Category bringing home the Gold Medal. They skated their short programme to Elvis Presley’s ‘Little less Conversation’ and were sitting nearly 3 points clear of the other 5 competing teams. They skated the long programme to ‘Alice in Wonderland’ winning Gold. An amazing achievement and Lauren and her team will now represent their Country at the ‘Trophy Decosse’ international synchronised skating competition in Dumfries on February 12th.

Healthy Dalbeattie Students 'Pop-Up' to advise public

Tuesday 9th February, from 11 am until 1 pm, S3 Hospitality students took part in a healthy eating session in the 'pop-up' shop, Maxwell Street, Dalbeattie.  After a couple of training sessions with Community Learning and Development staff the groups were confident to then take their message on to the streets of Dalbeattie.  Students asked members of the public to arrange soft drinks in order of which ones contained the most sugar.  This produced some interesting results.

The staff, at the centre, were very welcoming and friendly and it was a great experience which we would definitely embark on again.

On Sunday the 20th of March a team of S1 students (Tia Wight, Natalie Miller, Anna Pedley and Saffron Kirkman) participated in the finals of the gymnastics vault and floor championships in Perth.

The team came in 4th which is quite an achievement because given the number of schools participating. Well done to the team for representing Dalbeattie High School so well at a national level.
